Luke 4:18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor."

These are the words from the Book of Isaiah spoken by Jesus when, filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, he read from Isaiah in the synagogue at Nazareth.

This speaks of the Savior, Jesus Christ. After reading Isaiah, Jesus declared, "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."

Filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus proclaimed His work as the Savior.

Everyone present surely heard this.

Yet among them were those who believed and awaited the Savior's prophecy, and others who focused only on Jesus' miracles.

We too, by hearing about Jesus, knowing Jesus, experiencing Jesus, and fellowshipping with Jesus, are choosing whether we want to be on Jesus' side or not.

But God desires to save every single person.

Even if we choose the side that is not Jesus, God does not give up.

God works on us again and again, guiding us so we can joyfully choose to be on Jesus' side.

That this work was declared before the people of Nazareth means Jesus is declaring to us too that He is our Savior.

Is your Savior yourself, or is it Jesus?

God is always asking us this question.
