James 1:17 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights."

The beginning of the Letter of James states, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds."

It also says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."

This suggests that good gifts and perfect gifts might not be what we find pleasant.

This is because faith being tested produces endurance.

"Endurance" is not merely putting up with something; it is believing that God allows us unpleasant events for our best, thereby promoting our spiritual growth, staying put without fleeing, and waiting for God's work.

Those weak in faith can ask God, and God will be with them, enabling them to pass through the trial.

When things don't seem to be moving in the positive direction we envisioned, our faith can waver. Instead of trying to handle it ourselves, let us confess our true state to God and ask for His help.

For our God is a God who gives generously to all without reproach!
