Gospel Reflections #809: Entirely God's Work

1 Peter 1:18,19 "For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect."

No matter how wealthy our lives in this world may be, or how fulfilling and meaningful we feel our existence to be, this world is directly under the influence of sin.

Therefore, no matter how much we improve ourselves or our circumstances, we only become more greedy, and there is no true peace.

We Christians encounter God, commune with Him, and are immersed in His love within His plan of salvation for humanity. It is through this that we receive peace from God.

Those who have experienced this are certain that this peace cannot be found anywhere else in this world.

And this is a gift we can receive only because Jesus redeemed our sins with His life on the cross.

Following this divine word, it is written: "You have come to believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and glorified Him, so that your faith and hope are in God."

Through Jesus' cross, we are enabled to choose to believe in God. Through His resurrection, we are given new life as children of God and the hope of living with Him.

All of this is not from our thoughts or deeds, but entirely God's work.

We respond to God's work by choosing to agree with it and act accordingly, and it is through this that God deals with us.

This shows us that our lives are a continuous series of God's miracles!
