Gospel Reflections #805: Who Jesus is for us personally

John 5:40 "Yet you refuse to come to me to have life."
Jesus loves us, has compassion on us, and has served us like a servant.
To reveal Himself, He performed works and miracles so we could understand.
Yet we tend to seek Jesus merely to share in His miracles, power, and authority, or just to gain salvation, perhaps rarely considering receiving new life.
Even among believers in Christ, some say they cannot run to Him and cling to Him.
Why do we believe in Jesus and seek to follow Him?
It is not so that we might become great, but because living with Jesus has become our joy.
Let us each recall who Jesus is for us personally, what He has done for us, and firmly receive the courage and hope to cross the river that separates us from Him.
