Luke 22:15 “Jesus said. 'It was my earnest desire to have this Passover meal with you before I suffered.’”

The Saviour wished to observe this Passover meal only with His twelve disciples.

The Lord knew that His hour had come.

The Saviour poured out His care for those who would be left until the very end.

He told them what was going to happen to Him and what it would mean, and He supported His disciples so that they would not be shocked at the sight of His cross, and so that they would not be overwhelmed by anxiety and fear at the sight of His death.

God supports and protects us in advance so that we do not fall victim to unexpected events.

But the disciples were only looking at who would betray Jesus and who was the worst of the disciples, rather than at each of Jesus' words.

They were probably only in a state of security because Jesus was still with them.

It is only when something impossible happens to us that we come to the heart of the matter.

Jesus, who knows us all, has compassion on us, heals us, loves us, and provides us with everything we need in spite of our nature.
