Exodus 12:7 "Moreover, they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses in which they eat it."

While the angel of death was passing through Egypt, each Hebrew household had to eat a lamb that was commanded to be roasted whole, and its blood had to be applied to the pillars and doorposts at the entrance.

That was their salvation from death.

Painting the doorposts with the blood of the slain lamb represented the blood of Christ they longed for.

That salvation was not because of the great deeds of the Hebrews of that time, nor was it religious.

It is only God's faithful fulfillment of the covenant He made with man.

But this is God's character and His precious love for us.

We are not to become good Christians by our own efforts every day, but to believe in Christ and let Him do everything for us, so that we will be protected by His blood.

God has a plan to save us, and He has certainly fulfilled it.

We know it, we rejoice in it, and we spend time with Him.

God is our Creator and Re-Creator, the One who transforms us into His likeness.

Fifteen hundred years after this Passover, Jesus, the prototype of the Passover Lamb, died on the cross for the sins of the world and rose again three days later.

We have been freed from sin through the cross of Jesus, and through his resurrection, we too have received new life as children of God.

Now we are not walking the path of faith in order to be saved, but we are walking the path of faith because we have been saved.
