Isaiah 40:11 "He feeds His flock as a shepherd, He gathers them with His arm, He takes the lamb in His bosom and leads His mother."

In chapters 1-39 of Isaiah, we read the prophecy of the Lord's judgment against Judah for its sin and then its restoration, but from chapter 40 onward, the restoration is the focus of the book.

From chapter 40 onward, the background is salvation from Babylon, not from Assyria.

When Isaiah wrote this prophecy, there was no Persian nation.

Babylon was not a great nation either.

He foretold in detail what would happen more than 100 years later.

So, "I am God who already speaks of things to come." He challenges His presence to the idol-worshipping Gentiles.

We do not know God's plans or specific ways, but God gives us hope and assurance.

His Word shows us that Jesus is our Lord and guides us in everything.

Our God is a God who will not abandon us or forsake us, but will nourish us, gather us, hold us tight, and guide us, no matter what our condition is, if we believe in Him and surrender to Him.

We only need to be willing to accept Jesus' invitation.
