1 Timothy 2:5 "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus alone."
The link between God and us is not through our faith, nor through our efforts, but only through Christ.
It is not by being good Christians and doing good works for Christ that we can connect to God through Christ, but only by accepting and believing in the perfect and only heavenly God and in Christ.
We humans seek achievement and fulfillment, but God recognizes that we are imperfect and powerless and desires our dependence on Him.
We are weak, but through Christ, He covers our weakness on our behalf.
Christ is indispensable to us, and we are to be kept alive in the joy of being saved by Him.
Therefore, no matter how bad we are, we should not be discouraged or worried, but walk as God leads us.
God is responsible for raising us up to the end.
