Psalm 44:26 "Arise and help us, for thou art good. For Thou art good and merciful.

When things go bad or things don't go as we wish, we often feel as if God is far away from us.

Then we ask God, "Lord, wake up! Why are you sleeping? Wake us up. Do not cast us away forever. We plead with God, "Lord, why are you asleep?

We may take it for granted that we are making this plea, because we tend to focus on ourselves.

Our God is a God who helps us.

Our God is a God who helps us, and He cares for us no matter what our circumstances.

God will never abandon us.

Our petitions are often accompanied by the words, "I want to rely on You completely, but I can't rely on You half as much as I can on my own strength. I want to believe in your promises. Let me believe. Keep me in You and heal my anxiety."

If we choose to believe God's promises and wait, He will certainly make His mercy visible to us.

God's mercy toward us will surely be visible, because He accepts our weakness, our ugliness, and our unbelief in all its fullness.

God forgives and accepts our complaints, our ill-treatment of Him, and our petitions to Him, and then He is merciful to us.

God accepts not only the words of our prayers, but also our motives.
