John 1:12 "But the Word qualified those who accepted him and believed in his name to be children of God."
The word "accept" contains a more positive nuance than simply "receive," a more positive view of a person or situation. "Acceptance" means that we choose to believe that what God has for us is best and inevitable, even if we do not understand all of God's Word.
Also, once we accept, it does not mean that we can accept forever.
We choose to accept it then and there.
Also, in order to accept God's Word, we need to accept God Himself, but first, we need to accept that we are accepted by God.
It is our acceptance of being "loved by God" and "accepted by God" that leads us to believe, to surrender, and to gratitude and joy.
Faith is a gift.
We can ask God to help us believe and surrender to Him fully, rather than doing nothing until we believe in Him fully.
Repeatedly asking God will ensure that we build a closer relationship with Him.
