John 2:24 "But Jesus Himself did not trust them. For He knew everyone."
People in Jesus' time believed in him because they heard rumours about him and saw his miracles.
But this may be more accurate to say that they accepted Jesus as the fulfilment of their desires rather than as trusting and reliable.
Jesus knew all these human motivations, so he did not trust them and surrender to them.
But even though Jesus knows our weakness, He is powerful enough to lead us to salvation and to make us grow in abundance of life.
So instead of looking forward to the time when we will be specially endowed with spiritual power and eventually be marvellously equipped for salvation, we choose to trust, surrender and follow God day by day in order to be made fit vessels for His service.
We are given opportunities for everyday, mundane service that is within our reach.
Whether we are doing a humble job at home or in a useful corporate workplace, everywhere we can be sure that we are with Jesus, or that we are willing to receive every single thing that God gives us.
The fact that Jesus knows everything about us means that we can be just as we are before him.
We don't have to pretend to be good Christians; we don't have to be hypocrites.
We just have to show Jesus our helpless state, our helpless existence as it is!
Jesus is happy to receive us.
