John 1:9 "His light is the true light, which shall come into the world, and shall shine upon all men."

Jesus the Saviour is the only light that illuminates the darkness of the world in sin.

We cannot receive the light of our Heavenly Father because of the effects of sin.

But God brings to us the way Jesus' light and goodness are revealed to us. God's blessings are given through human vessels,' says Ellen G. White.

This is the way in which human nature, united with the divine nature, can receive God's light.

This is God's appointed way of revealing Himself to us, and we can be placed in His light by knowing, relating to and wanting to follow Jesus.

And it is God's way for us to also represent Jesus through ourselves to someone around us and to someone who is seeking God.

Jesus does not tell us to 'strive to let our light shine'.

Jesus said, 'Let my light shine'.

We cannot produce our own light to shine, but we can reflect Jesus' light.

If there is anything we can add to Jesus' light, it is thanksgiving, joy and praise.
