John 8:12 "I am the light of the world."
Christ is the one who made us, who works to save us even when we are trapped in darkness under the influence of sin, and who has become a light of hope for us.
Christ was pleased to do more for His disciples than they could ever ask or think.
Knowing that God's decree was issued before the world was created, Christ spoke with certainty: "These things have I spoken unto you, that ye may know that ye are my disciples, and that ye are my disciples, and that ye may know that ye have eternal life.
'I have spoken these things to you that you may have peace in me.
You have troubles in this world; you will have troubles in the next. But take courage. I have already prevailed over the world."
In this world there is suffering and sorrow, no matter how earnestly and humbly we live.
Christ's victory over the world does not mean that those who believe in Him will not meet with difficulties and calamities in the world.
Christ comes to meet us at the end of the world and leads us to live with Him in the Kingdom of God.
We are shown the light of Christ.
By looking up to that light and drawing near to it, we are kept alive in the peace that is in God, which is not of this world.
