Matthew 9:12 "It is not the strong who need a doctor, but the sick."
The sick need a doctor because they realise that they cannot do anything about their illness.
The first step is for those of us who are spiritually ill to realise that we too cannot do anything about our spiritual illness.
But first, we need to realise that we are spiritually ill.
Spiritual illnesses may be pride, self-centredness, worry, resentment, not knowing where you are, lack of joy and other things that are not apparent to the outside world, such as being separated from God or dependent on yourself.
Attachment to worldly wealth, defending the position and honour you have built up for yourself, or being obsessed with being superior in this world may also be spiritual illnesses, and a lack of peace in your heart may also be an effect of spiritual illnesses.
Our Jesus is our spiritual doctor.
And it is the Law of God/character of God that give the diagnosis.
If you are diagnosed with a spiritual illness according to the Law of God, you must go to Jesus, the spiritual doctor, for a cure.
The cure for spiritual illness is the cross of Jesus.
Jesus is not a magician who makes us into who we want to be and into the environment we want to be in, but he heals us, remakes us, and makes us fit for heaven.
But then we may have to give up our worldly wealth or cut off our arms.
But when we are healed by the doctor, Jesus, we will no longer see our worldly wealth, position, honour, or current standard of living as a real need, and we will experience a genuine peace of being with God.
This can only happen at Jesus' place.
If we have truly encountered God and know Him, we will have accepted Jesus as the healer and solver of all.
Jesus knows our real needs, which we are not even aware of, and He has prepared a way to heal them.
