Isaiah 55:7  "Let those who oppose God depart from his ways, and let those who do evil forsake their schemes. Turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on you."

We may have thoughts and motives in our hearts that we do not even realise.

Lucifer had envy and pride in heaven, but he did not intend to have it, nor did he know what effect it might have.

Opposition to God begins not only with acts of rebellion against or rejection of God, but also with movements of the heart such as not believing, not accepting, doubting, or putting one's own thoughts before God's.

God has shown us His commandments to make us aware of our separation from Him.

God works in us so that we can turn around and put aside our thoughts when we realise.

He is not looking at what evil we are doing, but at our turning back to Him.

And when we turn to Him, He Himself, like the father of the prodigal son, will meet us and embrace us, saying, "Welcome home, my child.
