Revelation 2:4 "But I have something to say to you. You have departed from the love you had in the beginning."

We Christians are filled with joy, gratitude and hope through the knowledge of Jesus' self-sacrificing atonement, His victory over the world through His resurrection, and His unchanging love from the beginning.

As we walk the path of faith, we sometimes feel that the excitement and conviction of our encounter with Jesus fades away as we tend to focus more on our own faith growth than on looking up to him.

But God knows that we are like that.

So, from time to time, God searches for us, asking "Where are you?" and "What are you doing?", and leads us to realise what is important.

This is not God's rebuke or condemnation of us, but His love and mercy in seeking us out and calling us back.

Although these words are addressed to the Ephesian church, Jesus' words do not stop at showing us what is going on, but also how to deal with it.

God tells us to "remember where we fell and repent and do the first works".

God does not evaluate each of our deeds, but acknowledges that we have fallen away from Him and wants us to turn towards Him and draw near to Him, not pronounce judgement on us.

God will certainly work in us, whatever our condition, if we trust Him and surrender everything to Him.

Everything we do is the result of God working in us.

We receive God's guidance, which leads us to perfection in faith and character.
