Gospel Reflections #666: It's not about our achievements

Matthew 6:20Â "Let your riches be piled up in heaven."
We are sanctified by the robe of Jesus' righteousness.
It is not in our power.
But because we cannot shake off the influence of our values in sin, we inevitably focus on our own achievements, our own growth and our own increase in holiness.
Jesus came into the world as a servant.
He served us sinners to the end and gave his life on the cross.
His appearance in the world would not have been seen as glorious, but Jesus faithfully fulfilled the promises of God the Father in heaven.
That is why, as saved people, we are now given life.
God does not see our achievements as worthwhile, even if they are worthy of earthly value.
He looks at our 'faith' and our 'character'.
He guides and prepares our relationship with God and our character by allowing us to do for others what Jesus did for us.
Our task in this world is to give the love of Jesus to others.
It is only through the work of God, in whom we believe, that He will remind us of our desire to do so and bring it to fruition.
