Gospel Reflections #654: Only God is our sure foundation

Deuteronomy 32:4 "The LORD is the rock, his works are perfect, his ways are righteous in every way. He is the God of truth and without falsehood, righteous and upright."

Wherever we turn, even when we don't need Him, He is the cornerstone in our corner, the indispensable foundation for us.

That foundation is perfect, true, right and upright.

We do not realise how great and impossible it is for us.

The Bible says that he who asks more of the headstone in the corner will never end in disappointment. This stone is precious to you who ask more, but to the unbelievers it is a stone that the house-builders have thrown away and has become a headstone in the corner, a stone of stumbling and a stone of hindrance.

It is up to us to choose whether the Lord will be precious to us or a hindrance.

Unless we know who He is and what He has done for us personally, and at the same time know that we are also incapable of obtaining salvation on our own, we may not accept Him as the 'precious and perfect Rock'.

God does not give up on us or forsake us.

It is we who do.
