John 15:5 "I am the vine, you are the branches. If a man is connected to Me, and I to him, he bears fruit in abundance. For apart from Me you can do nothing."

What struck you most when you read this verse? Are we not looking at the result of "bearing fruit abundantly"? We tend to look at the result and then consider the gain or loss and discern whether or not to make a choice.

But God cares about the process. Even if we know only a little bit about God, even if our heart for God is only as small as a mustard seed, God will keep us connected. God receives our small daily thoughts of seeking Him. The repetition of such a process will bear abundant fruit.

In this world, it may be said that it is shameful to be unable to do anything, but God surely accepts even only our unspeakable desire to seek Him empty of what we can do best. And He is always waiting for us with His hand outstretched.

All we have to do is to accept God's hand and the process of growth by God will begin. A branch cannot connect itself to the tree. God does everything. We can bear abundant fruit if we simply surrender to God's hand.

The way God grows us is not by increasing what we can do, but by the miracle of love, where He makes us grow just by being connected. Being connected to God is already heaven and eternity!
