1 Timothy 2:9,10 "In the same way, a woman should dress modestly and adorn herself with chastity and modesty, not by braiding her hair or wearing gold, pearls, or expensive clothes. Rather, it is fitting for a woman who professes to honor God to adorn herself with good works."
God is not checking our attire.
God does not want us to be careless in our dress.
God is looking at our motives.
Our motives may be things we are not even aware of. We may be obsessed with the way we dress because we want to be recognized or noticed. We may unknowingly have a desire to look nicer than that other person. Some of us may want to make ourselves feel good about ourselves by the way we dress, regardless of who else is involved. It may be a small thing, but we may have something other than God that fills us up.
The more we know God, the more we want to be part of His work. I believe that by choosing to do so and doing it, we are being transformed so that we can imitate the good works of Jesus.
Looking up to God and reflecting His light is seen as the most beautiful thing to both God and man. Surely this is what differentiates the beauty of this world from the beauty of the Kingdom of Heaven.
But we don't create the differentiation; it is reflected by receiving God's light, and all we can do is receive God's light. The rest is up to God to make us the most beautiful thing we can be!
