Luke 1:37 "There is nothing that God cannot do."
When the angel announced the annunciation to Mary, she wondered how that could be possible since she was a virgin. The angel replied that the Holy Spirit would come upon her and her holy child would be called the Son of God.
She then added these words, telling them that her relative, the barren Elizabeth, was in the sixth month of pregnancy. The Greek of this statement seems to translate, "No word, no thing, no event, no matter, is impossible for God." We believe that God can do anything, yet we are bound by the limitations of our human understanding. Even when we believe in God, unbelief and worry boil over.
We have received a new life and a new thought process from God, but we have not discarded our old thought process, and we often get taken in by it. At such times, we should not think that we must become like Mary, but rather tell God our unbelief as it is.
God is able to accept our weakness and our ugliness, and He is able to transform them. To Mary, God created something out of nothing. In the same way, God is creating something out of nothing for us.
God does not force us to believe, but takes care of us so that we can believe. We can experience this today through Jesus. In the midst of ordinary days we can taste God's infinite power, if we want it.
