Gospel Reflections #1063: We may come into harmony with His will

1 Chronicles 17:11, 12 ‘When your life is over and you go to be with your ancestors, I will appoint one of your sons to succeed you, and I will establish his kingdom firmly. He will build a house for me, and I will establish his throne for ever.’

This is the core of the ‘Covenant with David’ that God made with King David.

God promised that David’s son (Solomon) would build the Temple and establish his throne forever.

This is not merely a story about a human kingdom, but a prophecy concerning Jesus Christ, the Saviour who would later come as a descendant of David. 

David expressed his desire to ‘build a magnificent palace for God’.

However, God, on the contrary, declared, ‘I will build a house (a royal line and descendants) for you.’ God’s plan is far greater than anything humans can imagine.

The words ‘he shall build a house for me’ were fulfilled by David’s son, Solomon.

Solomon built the first magnificent temple in Jerusalem.

The promise to ‘establish his throne for ever’ did not end with the earthly kingdom of Solomon, but was fulfilled eternally through Jesus Christ, born of David’s lineage.

Jesus reigns as the eternal King, both now and for evermore. 

God has also made a clear promise to us.

Very soon, God will come to welcome us.

Are we, like David, believing with pure faith and translating that faith into action?

God is always guiding us so that, through our daily relationship with Him, we may come into harmony with His will.

As long as we do not reject or ignore this guidance, we are being transformed into vessels that reflect God’s light.

Let us shine brightly!
